South Penquite Farm

One of our yurts.

Our Yurts
"...for that back-to-nature experience..."

Using a design that has served the nomadic tribes of Mongolia for centuries, our Yurts have been made by a local craftsman from timber grown on Bodmin Moor. These vaulted tents have an intricate lattice for walls and steam bent roof poles to give them their distinctive shape

Adapted for our climate they are covered with sail-grade canvas and mounted on wooden platforms. Inside there is plenty of room to stand and admire the simple beauty & elegance of the construction which will give you a camping experience like no other

We have four Yurts available for holidays and short breaks at South Penquite

  • Goldilocks & Daddy Bear Yurts (each sleeps up to 5 close friends or family)
  • Mummy Bear Yurt (sleeps up to 4 in comfort)
  • Baby Bear Yurt (for cosy couples)

Our Yurts are fully equipped for that 'back to nature' experience, with all the home comforts you need. Each have a wood burner & gas stove to cook on and provide heating. Futons provide sleeping and seating areas and a cot is available if needed. Rugs, throws and cushions add colourful comfort. all cooking and eating utensils are included - just bring you own linen or sleeping bags. For a full inventory of one of our Yurts (PDF) please right click here and select "save target as..."

Set in their own field on the campsite with stunning views across the moors. Look up at the night sky through the roof light, open the door to allow the moorland air in, or snuggle up around the wood burning stove. Hot showers and loos are free to use and we have a freezer for ice pack exchange
